He extended his righteousness so that whatever ails humanity on this earth, there will always be relief in Heaven, which serves to avoid any challenge of his being that of God. If one can only hold out long enough to endure all that accompanies a mortal existence, one will reap the benefits of living a pure life; indeed, whatever trials and tribulations one experiences here on earth, there will ultimately be a place where none of that matters anymore -- where all the negativity and malfeasance will instantly vanish forever. Perhaps it was as a form of salvation that Jesus passed along this message for those who felt far too overwhelmed by the hardships of life; as long as they knew what waited ahead in a better place, they were given the inner strength to carry on.
