"A Model of Christian Charity"
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page discussion of the meaning and applicability of the speech delivered by Governor in 1630 aboard the Arbella. Winthrop's speech was patterned according to Puritan beliefs and world views. As a consequence, the speech seems harsh by today's standards. Some might even classify Winthrop and his followers as zealots. On closer inspection, however, it becomes apparent that the message contains both stern warnings and deep understanding of the human condition and the factors that challenge our everyday lives. A Summary of “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” by Harold S. Kushner
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper summarizing Harold Kushner’s “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” (1981). Harold Kushner’s “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” (1981) tells of Kushner’s own emotional and spiritual journey back to the belief of God after the death of his three year old son. Kushner, a Rabbi, tried to make sense of many of the traditional arguments of God’s existence and the reasons for some of the tragic events of the modern world. Overall, Kushner provides a usable argument for God as his idea rests on the fact that although God is not all powerful, He is a God of love. In addition, his argument also presents a case on the aspects of natural law in which moments of chaos create disasters which do not discriminate based on morality. While the reader may or may not agree with Kushner on the aspects of God’s power, the reader may find Kushner’s suggestions on how to deal with people who are dealing with grief and pain, as Kushner himself has experienced it first hand.

Adler V. Duval And Chandler V. Siegelman: Overview
[ send me this paper ]

Such is the instance with Adler v. Duval and Chandler v. Siegelman, two cases where free speech, free exercise and the establishment clause all came under fire based upon perceived illegality and blatant constitutional infringement. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
