A 4 page paper discussing today’s meteorological satellites. Whereas the earliest weather satellites held only black and white cameras and little else in the way of monitoring equipment or devices, today’s meteorological satellites not only provide greatly improved weather information, they also monitor a variety of atmospheric environmental conditions. Wind Shears

7 pages in length. Wind shears, also known as microbursts, are sudden and dramatic changes in the speed or direction of the wind. While most travel in a horizontal direction, there are wind shears which travel vertically; it is these that are particularly dangerous to aircraft that are taking off or landing, when correction is almost impossible due to their low altitude. This is an interesting topic and includes 9 sources in the bibliography.
